- Microsoft has outlined a plan to phase out Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) and the legacy Edge version. The new development by Microsoft comes just seven months after it released the Edge browser.
- Under the “Internet Explorer compatibility” section, turn on the “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode” toggle switch. Microsoft Edge enable IE mode; Click the Restart button. Once you complete the steps, when sites require Internet Explorer, you can use Microsoft Edge to reload the page using IE.
- With Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge, you can standardize on one browser - seamlessly experiencing a modern website in one tab while accessing a legacy IE 11 website in another. We have announced that these Microsoft apps and services will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) as of the below dates.
'C: Program Files Internet Explorer iexplore.exe' After upgrading to 20H2 it always opened in Edge, also manually browsing to that website was redirected to Edge. I found a setting in Internet Explorer under Internet Options - Advanced Tab - Browsing section - Uncheck Enable third party extensions.

Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) is a component of the Windows operating system and follows the Lifecycle Policy for the product on which it is installed. For customers who have business-critical, line-of-business apps running on IE 11 today, IE 11 continues to be a supported browser.
However, to enable a better, more innovative online experience, we encourage customers to move to Microsoft Edge. With Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge, you can standardize on one browser -- seamlessly experiencing a modern website in one tab while accessing a legacy IE 11 website in another.
